I LOVE stories. And I LOVE connecting with people.
For me, improvising, or composing on the spot is this immediate communication that turns what we are all feeling collectively in the room, into music. But it is a language that not everyone can full appreciate, if they haven't spent time with it.
SO, I want to invite the audience into the experience in a new way.

SFTS - The Sound of Colour
We all have a relationship with colours and feelings.
Yellow is happy and focused.
Red is passionate.
Blue is trustworthy, sad, and solemn.
Black is powerful, dark, limitless and yet enveloping or controlling. etc etc.
AND shapes and textures project feelings too.
Now anything that evokes a feeling, can evoke a sound or melodic idea too.
Imagine this...me on stage with my guitar. The screen behind me goes YELLOW. "How does yellow make you feel?". Then I play "Happy" "Up" "Child-like" etc.
I do the same for passionate red and solemn blue and dark powerful black.
Then I play you a yellow that is curvy and smooth, like a draped material or the curved petals of a flower.
Then I show you intense yellow. Like the eyes of an eagle. Or the sun itself burning and bright. And I play that.
Now that you can "hear" what you see, the real show begins. A sequence of photos and animations are projected behind me and act almost like the conductor of the music. I play music that moves with the colours, textures and symbolism. You are transported through states of emotion and immersed in the experience.
The next level. I then play an artwork. I take the theme, the colours and textures and spontaneously compose music that reflects that art. It might be a famous artwork or a noted local artist.
You will "hear" the painting come to life right in front of you.
THEN... I will be working with artsits such as Catherine Whitting, an abstract painter to create live, improvised art and music. In real time you will see Whitting create an artwork in response to my music and my music respond to her art. It will be messy and beautiful and dynamic.
Creativity, Spontaneity, a sensory feast, ...oh..., we should get chocolate. Yes, there will be chocolate.
A musical and visual experience to engage your senses.
